Claude Plan Overview
Claude has two separate product lines: the app plans (for using Claude.ai) and API billing (for developers building with Claude). They are priced separately.
App Plans (claude.ai)

App Plans vs API: Which Do You Need?
If you want to use Claude through the website, mobile app, or desktop app — you need an app plan (Free, Pro, Max, or Team).
If you want to build an application that calls Claude programmatically, you need API access through the Anthropic Console. API billing is per token, not a subscription. You can have both — an app subscription for personal use and API access for development.
