Why is Claude not working?

Claude may not be working due to an active outage, a browser or network issue, or a login problem. Check status.claude.com first. Then try a different browser, clear cookies, or use incognito mode. The Claude Troubleshooting Checklist above covers the most common issues step by step.

How do I check if Claude is down?

Visit the official Claude status page at status.claude.com. It shows current system status for the Claude web app, mobile apps, and API. If no incident is shown but Claude still isn’t working for you, it may be a browser, network, or account issue.

Why can’t I log in to Claude?

Common login issues: wrong sign-in method (Google vs. Apple vs. email), cookies blocked or expired, or a temporary auth issue. Try signing in via a different browser or incognito window. If you used email sign-in, request a new magic link and check your spam folder. If the issue persists, contact support.claude.com.

Why is my Claude usage limit reached?

Claude app usage limits depend on your plan tier. Free plans have the lowest limits. Limits reset on a rolling basis (typically every 8 hours for Free, longer for Pro/Max). Check your current plan and usage at claude.ai/settings. To increase your limit, consider upgrading your Claude plan.

What should I do if I get a Claude API error?

Check the error code: 401 means authentication failed (check your API key), 429 means rate limit exceeded (add retry logic with backoff), 400 means invalid request (check your request format against the Anthropic API docs), 500 means a server error (retry after a short wait). Do not share or paste your API key into any AI chat tool, including Claude.
